Winecraft Black has rich purple foliage in spring, but in summer’s heat, they turn a near-black before bursting into reds and oranges in the fall. In early summer, its “smoke” appears as large, soft panicles of bloom. This variety is easy to care for, smaller than other smokebush variants, requires minimal shaping, and doesn’t require deadheading. Additionally it resists both deer and rabbits, and is cold hardy down to zone 4, making it a sturdy choice.
